Questioning Technique

Using guided interview questions is important to gauge behavior. Some recommendations on the design of interview questions:

Use open-ended questions – these begin with modifiers such as what, where, when, why and how and opens the floor for an in-depth and inspired answer. This can prevent monosyllabic answers and you will be able to obtain the information needed.
Avoid leading questions – the question should not lead the applicant to agree or disagree with your statement. Answers to questions must reflect the applicant’s values.
Don’t ask the obvious – this is also a leading question, and the applicant can give you a rehearsed answer.
